More Information - EnglishSpanish

On January 29, 2012, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and United Way of Fresno County will launch the 2011 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA is rooted in a broad-based coalition of community organizations, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, government agencies and financial institutions coming together to improve the economic status of Fresno’s working families and individuals by increasing the number of Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) filings and providing free tax-preparation services.

Residents taking advantage of EITC through VITA may receive refunds for as $5,600. In addition, VITA sites expedite the filing process, enabling individuals and families to receive refunds sooner. VITA services are completed by IRS-certified preparers trained to work with low- to moderate-income individuals and families.

Energy Saving Programs

Fresno Energy Watch Program is a service enabling businesses, municipalities and non-profit organizations within the City/County of Fresno to become energy efficient by installing energy efficient fixtures at little to no cost to qualified PG&E customers (with peak demand under 200 kW). Richard Heath and Associates, Inc. (RHA) is the program implementer who PG&E has contracted with to provide assessment and installation services for the Fresno Energy Watch Program.  RHA has over 30 years of energy efficiency experience and a valued on-time reputation.

Property Assessed Clean Energy Program (PACE) for commercial property owners to finance energy efficient upgrades (solar, HVAC systems, water etc.).  The repayment is done via a line on property tax at a fixed-rate loan for up to 20 years.  For required qualifications and application – www.figtreecompany.com

The Home Energy Tune-up Program provides home owners with education and directs them to energy-savings measures. Once you receive your assessment and decide to make upgrades, there are opportunities for up to $4,000 in rebates available from Energy Upgrade California (California Energy Commission).  Look for these signs in your home: increased dust, moisture on windows, peeling interior paint, significant difference in temperature from room to room, and dry indoor air in winter or high energy bills.  Contact (855) 621-3733 or www.fresnohometuneup.com

PG&E has other Third Party Programs such as Medical Building Tune-Up Program, Healthcare Energy-Efficiency Program, California Wastewater Process Optimization Program, Small Commercial Comprehensive Refrigeration Program (Cool Biz), EnergySmart Grocer Program, School Energy Efficiency Program, and California Preschool Energy Efficiency Program (CPEEP)  to name a few.  For additional information: http://www.pge.com/mybusiness/energysavingsrebates/rebatesincentives/
