General Information
Location: Kerman Community Pool located at Kerman High School 205 S. First Street
Cost: Group Lessons $30 for each session. One-on-one $55 for each session.

Students are only allowed to participate during the time and in the class that they have been registered for. If a class or time change is desired by a parent it must be approved by the POOL MANAGER prior to the student entering the alternate class.

Each session will consist of ten 30 minute lessons.

Lessons that are cancelled by The City of Kerman Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department will be made up during the week at an alternate time, parents will be notified.

Swimmers provide own suit and towels. Showers must be taken before swimming.

It is essential that each student is placed in the correct class that corresponds with their skill level. On the first day the students will be tested to ensure that they have been placed in the correct class. The instructor may deem it necessary to move the student to a lower or higher skill level class.

Parents and other family members are required to stay on the grass areas during swim lessons.

Only registered swim lesson participants will be allowed in the water and only during their registered time. No siblings or other family members will be allowed to enter the water (Exception Water Babies class).

Please feel free to discuss your child's progress before and after class with the instructor.

June13th- July 11th Swim Lesson Registrations will be accepted at the Kerman Community Pool, 205 S. First Street, Tuesday–Friday 11:00am-4:00pm; 6:00pm-7:30pm
Swim Lesson Class Descriptions
PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: A child may not always pass a class after a session of swim lessons is completed. Although it may seem frustrating, it is always more beneficial for a child to repeat the proper swim class rather than for them to be placed in a class where they are not able to perform and learn the necessary skills.
WATER BABIES (Ages 12-36 months) Child must be accompanied by an adult. This class is designed to involve parent and child in the water. Together parent and child will be exposed to water adjustment activities and water safety skills from an instructor.
POLLYWOG 1: (Ages 3-5 Child MUST be at least 3 years of age prior to start of session) This is a water adjustment class for preschoolers to become introduced with the pool. Emphasis is placed on holding breath, kicking and floating. NOT A “DROWN PROOFING” COURSE.
POLLYWOG 2: (Ages 4-6) This course is for students who will already submerge under water on command. Children are taught the basic elements of swimming, holding breath, buoyancy, kicking and gliding.
BEGINNER: (Any Age) This class is taught in deeper water. Student must already know how submerge under water and glide. Crawl stroke and elementary backstroke are taught in this class.
ADVANCED BEGINNER: (Any Age) Students must have successfully completed Beginner course or swim crawl stroke effectively for 1 lap length of the main pool. The course concentrates on increasing endurance and improving coordinated movements. New skills taught are backstroke and breaststroke.
One-on-One:(Any Age) The student will receive one-on-one attention for swim lesson instruction. The instructor will adjust skills to be taught to the level of the swimmer.
Adult Lap Swim: is also offered Monday - Friday from 6:00pm – 7:00pm starting June 13th at a cost of $1.00 per evening. All participants must be at least 16 years of age.

Recreation Swim |
The Kerman Community Pool will open to the public for the 2011 summer season on Saturday, June 11, 2011.
The pool will be open for Recreation Swim Tuesday - Saturday 12pm - 4pm.
Cost: $1.00 per child / $1.50 per adult
Season passes are available for $10.00 for 20 swims.

Private Pool Rentals |
The Kerman Community Pool is available Saturday evenings, Sunday afternoons and evenings for private pool rentals. Pool rentals must be a minimum of 2 hours. The rental cost includes facility and lifeguards for the event.
Pool Rental Reservations will be accepted after May 2, 2011 at the Kerman Community/Teen Center, 15101 W. Kearney Blvd.
Pool must be reserved for a minimum of 2 hours. Lifeguards are included in the cost.

Pool Rental Rules:

-No gum or seeds of any kind.

-No whole watermelons.

-Food and beverage are limited to grass area only.

All children under the age of 8 must be supervised by a responsible person at least 14 years of age.

Persons having open blisters, cuts, etc., are advised not to use the pool.
-
Zero tolerance for fighting and graffiti.
-
No gang related paraphernalia.
-
Proper swim attire must be worn. No cut-off shorts, sweats or pants will be allowed in the pool.

All persons must shower before entering pool.
-
Babies must wear Water Diapers in pool.
-
Obey Lifeguards at all times.
-
No cuddling or caressing in facility.
-
No running.
-
No rough play, pushing, or dunking.
-
No foul language.
-
No T-shirts are allowed in the deep end.
-
No flotation devices, snorkels, or fins are allowed in the pool.
-
No diving in small pool or shallow end of big pool.
-
No alcohol, drugs, or smoking in facility.
-
No gum allowed in pool area.
-
No glass containers allowed.
-
All food must remain on grass area.
-
Pool staff is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

One person on Diving Boards at a time.

Only one bounce on the Diving Boards.

Feet first only off the high diving board.
-
No back flips off of high or low diving boards.
-
No one is allowed on back wall near diving boards.
-
Must swim to the left when jumping off of the low diving board.
-
Must swim to the right when jumping off of the high diving board.
-
Staff reserves the right to refuse admittance to, or eject from the pool premises, any persons failing to comply with pool, health, and safety rules.
