Recreation Commission

Commission Structure

The City of Kerman's Recreation & Community Services Commission consists of seven members, each appointed directly by the Kerman City Council. Serving as an advisory board to the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Director, the Commission has a powerful voice regarding the play facilities and events within the City. The Commission meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm at the Senior Center (720 S. 8th St.) to discuss matters concerning the city's existing parks, playgrounds, and recreational programs, and is also instrumental in the development of new parks and play areas.

Accomplishments & Goals

The new Soroptimist Park boasts the first Boundless Certified Model Playground in the central valley, which is 100% wheelchair accessible. This innovative playground allows all children - including those with physical, developmental, cognitive, and sensory disabilities to experience independent, self-directed play at his or her highest level of ability.  The Commission has completed the Park Master plans for the 20 acre Eastside Community Park and Katie’s Kids Nature Park. Currently, the Commission is working on the beginning stages of developing a master Plan for a future 35 acre Community Park.
