Redevelopment Agency
The Kerman Redevelopment Agency (RDA) is comprised of the Kerman City Council. The City Manager serves as the Chief Executive Director for the RDA. His office administers reports and reviews, and makes appropriate recommendations directly to the RDA board members. The purpose of the Redevelopment Agency is to oversee the improvement of public infrastructure, revitalization of the City of Kerman, economic development and affordable housing. The end result allows the City to provide low interest loans and services to individuals and business owners. The RDA meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month immediately following the regular meeting of the Kerman City Council at 6:30 p.m. in the Kerman Community / Teen Center, located at 15101 West Kearney Blvd. |

PRIDE The Downtown PRIDE Program provides no-interest loans up to $2,500 to pay for downtown commercial property improvements and grants of up to $5,000 if the property owners pay for one-half the cost of improvements above $2,500. Improvements can include enchantment of the building exterior, such as lighting, painting, siding, awnings, signage or landscaping. Grant or loan funds are paid by the Kerman RDA to individual business property owners within the downtown area in an effort to improve its image and beautify Kerman’s downtown. Grant or loan funds are reimbursed to the applicant upon the completion of the project and after costs involved have been evaluated by the RDA. Low Moderate Housing Program The RDA / Low Moderate Housing Program was established to assist the low to moderate income Kerman population. In the past, this program has worked in conjunction with Kerman Unified School District’s Buildings and Trades Class to construct single-family dwellings on City property that is purchased by the Redevelopment Agency. The homes are then sold for below market value with low interest loans to low-income families who otherwise would not be able to afford a home. |
