Project Status

The City Council approved the project by Ordinance 11-01 on April 20, 2011. Current off-site road improvements on Whitesbridge Road and Goldenrod Avenue are in plan check, and construction of roadwork is anticipated to start in late July or early August. The developer expects to submit construction plans for the Walmart store and all on-site improvements in late July with construction of the store planned to begin in March 2012. These timelines are preliminary and subject to change.

Project Description
The project consists of a 154,648 square foot Walmart Store including a 5,762 outdoor garden center on approximately 20.24 acres located at the southwest corner of Whitesbridge Road (SR 180) and Goldenrod Avenue. The Walmart Store will be situated on approximately 17.18 acres with three outlots of 3.03 acres for future retail-commercial development. The Store will employ approximately 300 and operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The project elevations are available by clicking on the following link (Walmart Elevations).
