Community Development Department
The Community Development Department is responsible for managing and regulating land use and development within the City. The department is made up of four divisions: Planning, Building, Engineering, and Code Compliance & Enforcement. These four divisions work together to ensure the City is an aesthetically pleasing, livable, walkable, and sustainable community.
Building Division - Guides and assists with plan reviews for new or expansion projects, issuance of building permits, and building and safety inspections.
Code Compliance & Enforcement Division - Educate members of the public, facilitate compliance, and enforce applicable municipal codes, State, and Federal laws and regulations.
Engineering Division - Advises, guides, and assists with capital improvement project delivery, processing parcel maps and lot lines, maintaining utility master plans, and plan reviews for public and private construction projects.
Planning Division - Advises, guides, and assists with all land use entitlements in accordance with the Subdivision Map Act, Planning and Zoning laws, and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The Planning Division also ensures the appropriate and necessary implementation of the General Plan.
